ELECTRIC FURNACE FLUXES

Redux EF 40 - Redux EF40 is a specially designed supplemental flux used to modify iron and steel slags by 1.) decreasing slag fluidity and reducing slag melting temperatures and 2.) reducing the slag's surface tension to allow coalescence of difficult to remove, "emulsified" liquid slag particles, which are extremely difficult if not impossible to remove using present day ceramic or cloth filters. This flux will also greatly assist in the consolidation and coagulation of discrete TiO2, TiC and TiCN particles. Redux EF40 is typically added at 1 lb. per ton of metal as a starting point.

Redux EF40 also provides consistent melting efficiency and productivity. EF40 will prevent and eliminate slag build up on furnace walls, thereby providing constant furnace volumes, which in many cases, improves productivity and maximizes the use of electrical energy needed for efficient melting. EF40 is also very effective in reducing slag and spinel build up in the inductor throats of channel furnaces.
